True Intimacy Can Rewire the Body into a State of Love

I’ve been reading John Welwood’s beautiful book ‘Perfect Love, Imperfect Relationships’. He created the best term that I’ve heard so far a for our human core wound of not feeling loved: ‘The mood of unlove’; the deep seated suspicion that we are not lovable.

I’ve certainly spent a lot of time in my life in the mood of unlove.

No matter how validating the people around me have been, there’s always been a suspicion. ‘If you’d really know me, you wouldn’t love me. Deep down there’s must be something unlovable’

The mood of unlove impacts every aspect of our relationship - the way that we can be with differences, with unmet needs, with challenging moments..

And not to be underestimated; the way that we can show up for intimacy or sexuality.

But the beautiful thing is;

Intimacy and sexuality can be an entry to rewiring the body into a state of love.

When we create safety and presence together and connect with our nervous systems, our bodies start to listen.

LOVING TOUCH CAN BE REGISTERED WHERE LOVING WORDS DON’T ALWAYS LAND.

When our intimate and sexual times become moments of true connection, profound healing can happen.
